Verizon Complaint

beware of hidden fees

Verizon Wireless may have good reception but I am very disappointed in the way that my inexperience with cell phones has been manipulated by sales personnel. About a year ago, I was offered a chance to try VCast for 1 month free. I did not care to continue this service after the month was up and yet somehow the $15 per month fee was never removed from my bill even though I assumed the VCast had been disabled. By my own stupid neglect, I failed to notice that I was being overcharged since November 2007 and assumed the extra fees were because of picture messaging or the few accidental times my phone connected itself to some bullshit internet service. I know that many cell phone companies probably make hundreds of extra dollars by taking advantage of their customers in this way. Verizon, next time you offer a customer a "one month free" subscription please make sure the customer understands that they need to cancel this extra nonsense themselves and not rely on the network. In this failing economy, I hope you use my money wisely.

A dissatisfied customer,

E.J. Linari

Yes the same thing happened to me with Verizon, they swear that my husband added a feature to his account, and my daughter added one to hers. I have been unknowingly paying for these added features for a year and a half! My husband and daughter did not want these features and have no idea how they got on their lines. When I contacted Verizon to resolve this issue I was extremely disappointed to find out that they would not crrdit my account for more than 3 months worth of these shady charges. Bummer. I am a long time Verizon customer and I now plan to switch carriers the moment our contracts are up.

Same thing happened to my brother. He bought a Voyager a couple months ago, and they told him he had to pay $20 for a one-month internet fee that comes with the phone. We ended up paying an extra $60 to Verizon because they are a sleazy company who wants to squeeze every cent that they can out of their customers. I am so angry with Verizon. Their customer service sucks, and they really don't care about their customers at all.

They did the same to me on the NAV/GPS application. I caught them on the first day of the first bill, but it was 5 days after 30 days . Can you imagine , they tried to prorate me for 5 days of service. The VCAST never worked properly and I decided to drop them. They kept billing me for two months after I told them 12 times in writing when I closed the service. Now I am taking them to small claims court. Dirty crooks- that's all.

The same thing happened to me. They claim they offered this "free month" v-cast service to my son when he replaced a broken phone at school last June. I never heard anything about it and didn't notice the $15 fee on the family account because they are always hitting you for some "extra". I just got a letter from them "confirming" my current services and discovered that they have been charging me for this never used and never requested service for 10 months! They refused to rebate more than 3 months worth. Their position is that it is the customers job to carefully audit their monthly bill. They admit that they intentionally do not discontinue the trial service at the end of the offer period. Rather they depend on the customer (who may know nothing about it) to affirmatively stop them from charging the new fee. This is worse than bad business. In my opinion this is premeditated, massive consumer fraud. I'm sure that they are hauling in tens to hundreds of millions of dollars from unsuspecting customers who stupidly rely on them for basic commercial ethics.
